And so, in the dark corners of Eslania, where the line between the human world and the supernatural is weak, a dark force starts to move. The great vampires—strong Vlad Tepes, mysterious Elizabeth Bathory, and cruel Gilles de Rais—come together in the hilly area of Helea with one goal: to bring back Lilith, the mother of all vampires, and use her ancient power. These three old beings, each fearsome in their own way, are embroiled in a bitter struggle among factions. But their cooperation is less strong than it appears, for beneath the surface, the vampire faction is split into two different camps: the Warriors and the Mages.
The Warriors constitute the strong part of the vampire world. They are a tough group that relies on power and toughness. They use their claws very skillfully, and their great physical strength makes them almost unbeatable in close fights. These vampires represent pure, uncontrolled power. Their strong bodies and quick movements help them defeat anyone who tries to fight them. Their dependence on strength does, however, have a weakness: they lack brains, not being very intelligent or cunning. Primitive planning skills consist of just strong, direct attacks for them. During the day, their power becomes very weak, and they become exposed and frail. They are nocturnal creatures that live in the night, where their powers are at their strongest under the cover of darkness.
The Mages are very different from the others; they are the smart leaders in the vampire world. These vampires use magic skills that need strong focus and self-control.
Their claws are deadly, but they use them skillfully and carefully—something showing great intelligence. The Mages are masters of Darkness, Seduction, and Death, abilities granting them control over their enemies and shaping the world according to their wish. Unlike Warriors, Mages depend on their intellect and magical abilities to outwit and outmaneuver their foes. They are not so powerful by daylight but can cast a good spell and magic in the night, transforming the fighting to their favor.
The search for Lilith`s power has caused a big fight within the group between Warriors and Mages. The Warriors want to hold the power by strength, but the Mages try to seek pieces of Lilith`s soul using their wits and expertise in magic. The different groups believe that their way is the one that will make them stronger than the rest, and better than the humans and slayers who might harm them. They are searching for the Blood Bible, said to increase their powers; this has made the competition keener. The Warriors depend on their strength, and the Mages depend on their skills in magic. That leads to many bloody battles and clever plans by them.
As the vampires try to unleash the secrets of Helea, the Warriors and Mages have to face not just each other but also the slayers and human military forces. These outside forces make the battle very complicated for them. With all the powerful abilities of the vampires, they become vulnerable to well-orchestrated attacks by their reliance on the Darkness, Seduction, and Death skills. The sun, though but a trifle in their regard, is a serious threat in that it cuts their powers and brings them fewer active hours. The fighting methods of the Warriors are simple but effective, while the Mages are based upon complex strategies with magic. This combination of strength and intelligence is unstable. Their internal conflicts could destroy their quest to find Lilith`s power and mess up their plans to take control of Eslania. Each of them tries to gain control, and what they do will determine the fate of Helea—and maybe the whole world. In this bitter struggle for power with all its seriousness, betrayal, and ambition, only one group will win using the real power of Lilith and taking control over the night.
